Speaker: Deputy Ambassador Arthur Asiimwe, Embassy of Rwanda in the USA


Topic: U.S.-Africa: Rwanda's Transformation and the Role of U.S. Partnership 

Bio: Arthur Asiimwe is the Deputy Chief of Mission at the Embassy of the Republic of Rwanda in Washington D.C., and a seasoned media and public health expert with extensive leadership experience across the broadcasting and health communication sectors in Rwanda and Africa.

Prior to joining the Embassy of the Republic of Rwanda, he served for 10 years as the Director General of the Rwanda Broadcasting Agency (RBA), where he oversaw strategic operations and growth of RBA as an independent public broadcaster. He also chaired the Africa Union of Broadcasters (AUB), coordinating the efforts of 54 national public broadcasters across the continent.

Mr. Asiimwe holds a Master of Public Health (MPH) from the University of Rwanda, and an MBA in International Business and Finance from Oklahoma Christian University. He has also earned a diploma in Strategic Leadership from the Swedish Institute of Management.

His career includes roles as the Director General of the Rwanda Health Communication Centre and Managing Editor of The New Times. Arthur has also contributed as a correspondent for Reuters and the United Nations’ IRIN, focusing on political, economic, and humanitarian issues in Rwanda and the Eastern DRC.

In addition to his leadership roles in media, Arthur has chaired the boards of both the Media High Council and Rwanda Printing and Publishing Company (RPPC). He is an executive council member of the Public Media Alliance and Vice Chair of the Kigali Declaration on the Elimination of Gender Violence through Media.
